# Instructions

## Use case

Synchronize the Spendesk supplier master data with an external system by retrieving only data that is new or has changed since the last synchronization.

## Two distinct time filters

Both accept ISO 8601 datetime (`YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS.sssZ`).

## Critical difference: createdAfter vs updatedAfter

| Filter | Returns | Does NOT include |
|--------|----------|--------------|
| `createdAfter` | Suppliers whose creation date is after the date | Old suppliers whose data has recently changed |
| `updatedAfter` | Suppliers whose ANY field was modified after the date | Suppliers not modified even if recently created but modified before the date |

### Concrete example observed

With `updatedAfter: "2026-06-01T00:00:00Z"`:
- **Wojo** (created in 2020, updated 2026-07-02) → **INCLUDED** — old supplier but recently modified
- **Microsoft Ireland** (created 2024, bankDetails updated 2026-07-02) → **INCLUDED** — banking details recently updated

With `createdAfter: "2026-01-01T00:00:00Z"`:
- **Wojo** (created 2020) → **ABSENT** — filtered out because created before the date
- **Microsoft Ireland** (created 2024) → **ABSENT** — created before 2026
- **Getsafe GmbH** (created 2026-07-01) → **INCLUDED** — new supplier

## Recommended use cases

**To detect new suppliers to create in the ERP:**
→ Use `createdAfter: <last synchronization>`

**To detect suppliers whose banking data has changed:**
→ Use `updatedAfter: <last synchronization>`
→ Check `bankDetailsUpdatedAt` to confirm it's the bank details that changed

**Full incremental synchronization:**
→ Call both filters separately and merge the results (a supplier may appear in both)

## Available sorting

`sortBy` options: `"name"`, `"created_at"`, `"updated_at"`
`sort` option: `"asc"` / `"desc"`

## Pagination — page-based

Unlike `get_payables` (cursor), `get_suppliers` uses page number pagination:

## Combining with isArchived

To retrieve only recently created active suppliers:

Note: `isArchived` is a **string** `"false"`, not a boolean. On accounts with consolidated-AP-account suppliers, `get_suppliers` can fail even at `pageSize=1` (verified) — see [[s22-fournisseurs-actifs-iban]]. A lower `pageSize` is not a guaranteed fix.
